Chapter 25: Morning Embrace

Back in the car, I gently brushed a strand of wet hair from Elena's face. The rain had slowed to a drizzle, and the streetlights blurred through the misty windows. The adrenaline from our passionate encounter had left Elena exhausted. I drove us home, unable to fight the urge to hold her tightly to me. Elena had drifted off, lulled by the rhythmic sound of the rain and the steady hum of the engine.

When we arrived home, I parked the car and turned to look at her, a tender smile playing on my lips. I gently brushed a stray lock of hair from her face, my touch light and careful not to wake her. Carefully, I got out of the car, walked around to her side, and opened the door. Without waking her, I slipped my arms beneath her and lifted her out of the car. She stirred slightly, murmuring my name, but quickly settled back into sleep against my chest. I carried her inside, moving with the ease and strength I had come to admire in myself.
